Movie shoot at casino closes street, I-75 ramps

Filming backs up morning rush hour traffic onto mainline freeway

Closings of Miami Street and two of its I-75 ramps on Tuesday were caused by Hollywood — and not just the nearby casino bearing that name.

20th Century Studios has been shooting scenes for an upcoming feature film at Hollywood Casino Toledo since early last week, and on Tuesday, that filming resulted in Miami being closed between the northbound side of I-75 and the casino entrance near the Toledo-Rossford border.

That closing also meant the Miami entrance and exit ramps on southbound I-75 were closed. Exiting traffic was diverted to the Wales Road interchange in Northwood, where the exit ramp backed up onto the freeway mainline during the morning rush hour.

The Ohio Department of Transportation said a permit had been obtained for the ramp closings for a movie shoot there on Tuesday.

On its Facebook page, the casino on June 8 listed Andy Garcia, Samara Weaving, Randall Park, and Marshawn Lynch among the actors who would be in the movie.

And the film-industry trade website IMDb.com identified those actors and others as being involved in 20th Century Studios’ in-production film Eenie Meanie.

The casino has remained open to patrons, but those entering the building were greeted with signs alerting them that by going any farther, they implied their consent to appear in the film without compensation. And anyone going there during the day Tuesday had to approach via Superior Street in Rossford, which becomes Miami at the city line.

IMDb summarized the movie plot as: “A reformed teenage getaway driver is dragged back into her unsavory past when a former employer offers her a chance to save the life of her chronically unreliable boyfriend.” Another industry website, deadline.com, described the film as “a heist thriller.”

IMDb’s page said location shooting for Eenie Meanie also had occurred or was planned in Cleveland and Sandusky.
