Coast Guard crews have rescued three people and are searching for a man who went missing after a fishing boat capsized off Northern California

Ex-ambassador writes of Trump staff plot

NEW YORK — Former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley alleges in her upcoming memoir that two Trump Administration officials who eventually were pushed out by President Trump once tried to get her to join them in opposing some of his policies.

In With All Due Respect, Ms. Haley said then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and then-White House chief of staff John Kelly told her that they were trying to “save the country.”

Ms. Haley writes that she was “shocked” by the request, made during a closed-door meeting, and thought they were only trying to put their own imprint on his policies.

“Kelly and Tillerson confided in me that when they resisted the President, they weren’t being insubordinate, they were trying to save the country,” Ms. Haley wrote. “It was their decisions, not the President’s, that were in the best interests of America, they said. The President didn’t know what he was doing. ... Tillerson went on to tell me the reason he resisted the President’s decisions was because, if he didn’t, people would die.”

Car goes airborne, hits building’s 2nd floor

TOMS RIVER, N.J. — Police say a convertible traveling at high speed went airborne and crashed into the second floor of a New Jersey commercial building, killing both of the car’s occupants.

Toms River police said the Porsche Boxster went out of control just after 6:30 a.m. Sunday. The car hit the center median, struck an embankment, and went airborne into the building.

Police said the structure, which was unoccupied at the time, had been deemed unsafe by a building inspector. Sgt. Vincent Padalino said the building houses four businesses.

Search for man from boat called off

BODEGA BAY, Calif. — The Coast Guard has suspended a search for a man who went missing after a fishing boat capsized off Northern California.

The search was called off Sunday after crews rescued three others who were on the boat and looked through the night for the missing man in the water about 30 miles northwest of Bodega Bay.

The Coast Guard said it received a distress call from the 54-foot vessel named Miss Hailee around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

When a helicopter crew arrived, they located two men and a woman in the water and hoisted them aboard the aircraft.
